HACK BRIEF: SOMEONE POSTED PRIVATE FACEBOOK MESSAGES FROM 81,000 ACCOUNTS

It’s true: Facebook has experienced a number of security-related issues lately, including a breach disclosed in September that compromised at least 30 million accounts. But that incident doesn’t explain why tens of thousands of private Facebook messages reportedly ended up for sale on an internet forum the same month, according to the BBC Russian Service. The culprit likely responsible for the leak, Facebook says, is a pest outside of the social network’s direct control: malicious browser extensions. Google, which has over 60 percent of the browser market share, has said the number of malicious Chrome extension downloads has decreased significantly over the past several years, but this breach proves malware-packed browser tools remain an issue.

Apple has a problem it doesn’t want to talk about

The era of rapid iPhone growth ended years ago. Now Apple is making a change to ensure it doesn’t have to talk as much about that problem. On a conference call Thursday, top Apple executives laid out their plans to stop disclosing the number of iPhones, iPads and Macs it sells each quarter. It’s a move that shocked analysts and only added to jitters around a mixed earnings report. Daniel Ives, an analyst with Wedbush, called the announcement a “jaw dropper” in an investor note Friday morning, particularly because Apple is at a “critical juncture.” He said Apple is trying to make up for slowing unit sales growth by charging more for its lineup of devices.

Diablo Immortal, A New RPG, Announced For Mobile At BlizzCon 2018

Diablo was for much of its life a PC-only franchise. Now, with Diablo III having expanded to consoles–including, as of today, Nintendo Switch–Blizzard has its eyes set on what might be its most difficult adaptation of the action RPG yet: mobile. During the BlizzCon 2018 opening ceremony, Blizzard revealed that it is developing a brand-new Diablo game to mobile platforms. Blizzard said it “want[s] to do it in a way that’s true to Blizzard, putting gameplay first, in a way that feels right for Diablo.” It’s described as a full-fledged action RPG you can play everywhere with everyone. It’s being developed in collaboration with NetEase. The Chinese company has previously helped to bring a number of Blizzard’s games to China.

Bad North, a Real-Time Tactics Roguelite, is Available Now on Xbox One

Bad North is a minimalistic, real-time tactics roguelite where you defend a series of small islands from hordes of Viking invaders. That genre description is a bit of a mouthful, so let’s break it down and explain what this game really is. The core gameplay is real-time tactics which (in Bad North) is a mashup of real-time strategy, turn-based tactics, and tower defense. You defend small, charming islands (and the houses on them) against wave after wave of Vikings using just a handful of adorable soldiers.

Overwatch Pulls Loot Boxes in Belgium After They Were Declared Gambling

From Blizzard…

In April 2018, the Belgian Gaming Commission published a report that was endorsed by the Belgian Ministry of Justice in which they concluded that paid loot boxes in Overwatch are considered gambling under local law. While we at Blizzard were surprised by this conclusion and do not share the same opinion, we have decided to comply with their interpretation of Belgian law. As a result, we have no choice but to implement measures that will prevent Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm players located in Belgium from purchasing in-game loot boxes and loot chests with real money and gems.

No matter what, we want to make sure that our players around the world have the best entertainment experience possible. While players in Belgium will no longer be able to purchase paid loot boxes in Overwatch and loot chests in Heroes of the Storm, they’ll still be able to earn them by playing the games, and they’ll still have access to all in-game content.

These measures will be implemented shortly. We also remain open to further discussions with the Belgian Gaming Commission and Ministry of Justice on this topic.

Venetian ‘Rialto’ PayLoad Map Is Now Live In ‘Overwatch’

Blizzard’s popular hero shooter Overwatch is getting a new escort Rialto map.  The map is set in Venice, Italy and players would recognized the game’s setting. Blizzard said the setting is at Realto for the special Retribution co-operative mode.

Overwatch’s Rialto Map

Overwatch’s new map is not set at broad daylight. The game developer said that players would be escorting a payload via three checkpoints. Previously, the map is set at night and players are tasked to gun down Talon soldiers.

The game’s escort map comes with a new patch that introduces essential changes in the game’s characters. Of the major changes, the significant change that has been introduced in the game is Hanzo’s controversial Scatter Arrow ability.

In case you don’t know, Hanzo is an archer and the latest update has removed his Scatter Arrow ability. Blizzard has replaced this with Storm Arrows ability. Using the new ability allows him to fire five arrows in quick succession. In addition, the game’s Hanzo character has also received a new horizontal leap ability.

This new ability works similarly to his brother Genji’s double jump. Hanzo also received several other tweaks like an increased projectile speed and more frequent use of his Sonic Arrow. According to Blizzard, Hanzo is actually the most notorious character that is difficult to play well.

Meanwhile, Blizzard said that Rialto features various canals. Omnic-piloted gondolas and other similar Venetian setting. The game developer admitted that the Realto is actually the first map to be added in the game after the Blizzard World.

Diablo 3: Blizzard’s ‘Diablo 3’ Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch

Game publisher Blizzard has teased Diablo fans anew. This as the game developer hinted that the popular game would be coming to Nintendo Switch. Last week, Blizzard tweeted a cryptic teaser, prompting fans to claim that it’s about the Diablo franchise.

Is Diablo 3 coming to Nintendo Switch?

The game developer posted what appeared to be a six-second video showing Diablo demons. The video was accompanied by a caption: “Sweet dreams.” With this, Diablo fans are suggesting that the Diablo franchise may head to Nintendo Switch.

However, Blizzard later dismissed the rumor, saying, “We can assure you we’re not that clever.” Recently, a new report has surfaced saying that Diablo franchise is likely heading to Nintendo’s hybrid console.

Citing a source, Eurogamer reported that the popular action RPG is coming to Nintendo Switch. Upon learning the news, Diablo fans took to Twitter to express their opinions. Many of the Diablo fans claim that the video was actually a reference to the Diablo for the Nintendo hybrid console.

However, Eurogamer’s report, did not actually specifically state the game’s expansion that would be included on the release date. There are two possible game expansions: the Diablo III’s Reaper of Souls and the Rise of the Necromancer.

Meanwhile, Blizzard had released Diablo III in 2012 for PC. The game developer later released the game for PS3, Xbox 360. In 2014, the game was also ported to PS4 and Xbox One.

Since its release, Blizzard did not release any games for Nintendo platform after the game developer released Starcraft to the Nintendo 64 back in 2000.

New Overwatch Tease Hints A New Hero’s Weapon

Game developer Blizzard has released new information related to Overwatch. This involves the speculation about Overwatch’s new hero. If this speculation is true, a game’s new teaser would finally give a hint of the hero’s owned tools.

A New Hero is coming to Overwatch

A quick check of the Overwatch’s official Twitter account gave a hint of the game’s new hero. The company tweeted “I’ll knock some sense into you!” which was accompanied by a teaser image.

The leaked teaser photo revealed of what appears to be a schematics for some kind of tool. The game’s new hero has a tool named Slaga v3.0, which looks like some kind of a pickaxe which can be converted into a hammer.

Apart from the tool, the leaked teaser photo has also revealed other details. These details include some materials like a tablet-like device in the bottom right. Fans of the popular Overwatch game would certainly probe the leaked material photo. Another object that could be found in the photo was a mouse toy and a cat’s paw swiping at it from just out of frame.

Also, the recently leaked details follow the earlier rumor of the game’ “after-action” report for something called Operation White Dome. The Operation White Dome creatively described an incident which involved Torbjörn, Reinhardt, including a character named Private First Class Emre Sariogulu.

Following the earlier leaked detail was that players claimed to have seen a letter Torbjörn wrote to his wife. With these, avid fans of the game believed that the game’s new hero is Brigitte.

It can be recalled that Blizzard announced previously that it was actually conducting a test of the game’s rumored hero. Meanwhile, game director Jeff Kaplan stressed that the new character is “very needed.”
