Anafi Released By Parrot

Parrot Releases Anafi

Anafi was unveilled by Parrot just recently. This folding drone is Parrot’s response to the Mavic Air. Parrot is a French company who developed Anafi. According to them, this folding drone is the product of two years of development.

The Features Of Anafi

The 0.7 pound drone is foldable. This is for maximum portability. The users of this drone, among them photographers, can stash it away along with their other equipment when travelling. Or it can be just kept in a jacket pocket. This feature is handy and convenient for drone users who are always on the go.

drone

The Anafi is said to be clearly targetted directly at DJI’s Mavic line. It has a 4Y HDR camera on board, and a 21 megapixel still unit mounted on a gimbal. Parrot estimates battery life at 25 minutes. This is quite solid, as far as this class of drone is concerned.

The Drone’s Other Features

Parrot says that the drone is the quietest in its class. It is not literally quiet, though. But the company’s previous drones sounded like lawn mowers. With the Anafi, the sound has been reduced by about a third, compared with the company’s earlier models.

The drone has a controller that plugs into an iPhone or Android device, for touchscreen visualization through the FreeFlight 6 app. It features a number of different control modes, focused on capturing different camera content. This also include an option for following a subject, and of course, a selfie mode.

The Anafi’s Price And Availability

The drones price seems just right. The drone costs $699, $100 cheaper than the Mavic Air. At first glance, it does not appear to be as advanced as DJI’s latest stab at creating a truly mainstream drone. Anafi is due to be out on July 1. The drone will be available through Parrot, Amazon, and other “select retailers”.

Microsoft Sinks Data Centre Off Scottish Island For Eco-Friendly Internet

0
Microsoft's data center

Microsoft’s sunken data centre is part of an experiment to reduce energy costs and increase internet speeds.

Microsoft's data centre

Tech giant Microsoft has sunk a data centre off Scotland’s Orkney Islands. Dubbed Project Natick, it’s purpose is to create quicker and a more “eco-friendly” internet.

The white, 12-meter cylinder that houses computers is powered by tidal turbines and wave energy converters. The water will provide a natural cooling effect to the servers.

Sub-aquatic cable also brings power to the data centre as well as carry data to the shore. However, there is no way to repair the computers on board if they break. The cylinder has 12 racks containing 864 servers and associated cooling system infrastructure.

Cindy Rose, chief executive of the technology giant, said: “Microsoft is exploring the idea that data centres – essentially the backbone of the internet – can be based on the sea floor.”

“The shipping container-sized prototype, which will be left in the sea for a set period of time before being recovered, can hold data and process information for up to five years without maintenance.

The data centre is as powerful as several thousand high-end consumer PCs. But with the natural cooling effect of the sea, it only uses minimal energy.

If the project proves successful, the company has huge long-term objectives for its future. Microsoft plans to bring data centers closer to people as this would mean faster web browsing, streaming and gaming. And since more than half of the world’s population live within 190km of a shoreline, sinking them underwater near coasts could solve the problem.

Phase 1 of Project Natick showed the underwater concept was feasible. Phase 2 extends the research Microsoft has accomplished in phase one and testing if the concept was logistically, environmentally and economically practical.

Emirates Planes Will Replace Windows With Virtual Screens

0
Emirate Airplane

Would you ride on a windowless airplane? Emirates thinks you should.

Emirate Airplane

Emirates has just unveiled a new first class suite on board its latest aircraft that features “virtual windows” instead of real ones.

The President of Emirates, Tim Clarke, is hoping this new design will pave the way for going totally windowless on future planes. From the outside, these future planes will look solid. However, there will be “a full display of windows” projecting the images from the outside via fiber-optic cameras.

“Imagine now a fuselage as you’re boarding with no windows, but when you get inside, there are windows,” he said.

The image projected on the screen would apparently be so good that “it’s better than with the natural eye”.

“Now you have one fuselage which has no structural weaknesses because of windows. The aircraft are lighter, the aircraft could fly faster, they’ll burn far less fuel and fly higher.”

According to Clarke, doing away with windows will save 50 per cent of the weight of an aircraft. Having windows means they have to reinforce the fuselage inorder to support the structure around it. Apparently, going windowless in fact strengthens the plane.

“So if you have got a composite fuselage, which is produced in one drum … with no windows, the aircraft is automatically much lighter”.

Would you be willing to ride on one? Let us know!

Blizzard Is Working On A New Unannounced Diablo Game

0
Diablo

A job posting from Blizzard confirms work on a project in the Diablo universe.

Diablo

Video game developer Blizzard has not made any announcements but it seems that there is a new Diablo game in the works.

A job listing on the company’s website is hinting that a development is underway. Looking at the post, it is pretty straightforward: “The minions of Hell are growing stronger… We’re working on a new, unannounced Diablo project.”

Previously, the California-based company has teased about a Nintendo Switch version of Diablo. But people are quick to dismiss that the unannounced Diablo project is referring to this. The description asks for a “skilled dungeon artist”. This means there is a need for new art assets.

The exact description states:

“We’re working on a new, unannounced Diablo project. Are you a skilled dungeon artist? Come work with us, and together we will build something exceptional.”

The dungeon artist will be responsible for “modelling and texturing compelling assets.” He is also expected to work well “in an environment of peers who are passionate about working on the dark gothic world of Diablo, making great games, killing millions of monsters and getting loot!”

The 24th Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is already happening next week so it’s highly doubtful a new Diablo game will be unveiled there. However, they could probably announce that it will be in the works? Maybe. We’re actually hoping they will.

Diablo 3 is turning six years old this year. I think it’s about time for a new one, don’t you think?

Facebook Surprisingly Losing Steam Among Teens – Here’s Why

0

And just when you thought that it couldn’t be more popular (or controversial), Facebook according to the Pew Research (Internet and Technology) is losing its foothold in this demographic to Youtube, Snapchat, and Instagram. The teens are speaking out and expressing their ambivalence over social media. Some say it makes them feel connected, others say that the “closeness” is superficial and that it encourages isolation, while others fear bullying and the pressure to go with whatever is popular at the moment.

Play

In a prior Pew Research study in 2015, 71% of teens (12-17 years old) were still on Facebook. Today, that has dropped significantly to 51%. But why are American kids abandoning the ship and migrating to Youtube (used by 85% of teens), Instagram (72%), and Snapchat (69%). Coincidentally, these three more popular platforms are primarily “camera-based” platforms. Facebook is more popular among kids from lower income families: 70% came from those with incomes of $30,000 and lower. Those who patronized Facebook like the fact that it is easier to connect with friends and families from different age groups, find people with the same interests and ferret relevant news. But for those who don’t use Facebook or had reduced their exposure, some claimed that a lot of it had to do with parents “shutting down Facebook”. A disturbing finding is that over a quarter of users find bullying and spreading false rumors rampant on Facebook. One fifth complained that it actually destroyed relationships because of decreased interaction and led to some sort of digital”addiction”.

Play

When asked which social media platform they used the most, only 10% chose Facebook while 35% chose Snapchat followed closely followed by 32% who preferred Youtube. Girls were more loyal to Snapchat while boys gravitated to Youtube more. The slide is so serious that E-Marketer predicts that ” Facebook would lose a further 2.1 million American users under the age of 25 this year”. With 95% of U.S. teens owning smartphones currently, that’s a huge number that can be lost through the cracks – advertising wise since 45% claim to be on the Internet constantly. The Pew Research also revealed 83% of girls play video games while 97% play video games; another reason why the quality and safety of games should be monitored.

45% of teens say they're online almost constantly

“When the 17-year-old turned 13, getting a Facebook account was a rite of passage. Not long after she got the account she realised she didn’t have much use for it.” – Paul Verna (E-marketer analyst)

Personally, although ensuring privacy is now a battle cry at Facebook, the fact that they are playing “matchmaker’ soon is in some weird way, anti-teen and possibly could open a whole new can of worms. Perhaps if Facebook kept it more simple and not push its dendrites into all directions like battling Google on the “apps for business” end, Youtube for video and Match.com for pairings then it could focus on what had made it extremely popular in the first place. Some habits die hard and the older demographics are apparently still happy with the appeal of Facebook; but the downside is that tweens may skip Facebook together and flock to Snapchat and Instagram making the user population an aging one.

Review Of Motorola’s Moto G6

Motorola’s Moto G6 gets its review. With its price of Rs 13,999, this device has a stunning design and cameras. The Moto G6 is a well-made phone and is one of the best looking devices.

The Moto G6

The Motorola G series is the company’s answer to Xiaomi’s Redmi device line-up. The newest member of the G series is the Moto G6.

moto G6

It has a 5,7-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, a glass-and-metal construction, and dual cameras. Its price starts at Rs 13,999 for the low end model up to Rs 15,999 for the top end model.

Moto G6 Specifications

The Moto G6 has a 5.7-inch, 18:9 LCD display. Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor; 3GB/4GB RAM; 32GB/64GB storage; and microSD card slot. It supports dual SIM; 12MP and 5MP rear, 16MP front camera; 3000mAh battery; Android 8.0 Oreo; and 4G VoLTE.

Design And Display Of The Moto G6

The moto G6 is different from any of the phones on the Motorola G series when it comes to design. It feels like a high end device, complete with the 3D glass and metal combining together. As a Matter of fact, the Moto G6 looks exactly like the Moto X4. Its fit and finish is good. Its rests perfectly in your palm because of its curved rear. It wieghs 167 grams and measures 8.3 mm.

The Motorola Moto G6 has minimum bezels around the display. It has 18: 9 aspect ratio, similar to that of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. This gives the phone its extra inches of screen space without actually increasing the size of the device. The taller screen makes it good for watching movies and playing games.

Its fingerprint sensor remains in front, just below the screen, that doubles into a home button. The G6 has a facial recognition feature to unlock the phone, though.

More Of The Moto G6

Its dual-SIM card tray is located on the top of the phone, next to a microphone. On the bottom is a 3.55mm headphone jack, and the USB Type-C connector for fast charging purposes.

In conclusion, the Motorola Moto G6 is a well-made phone that delivers a number of promises that Motorola has made. But a beefier processor would have been much better.

Want A Decent Pair Of Earphones? Infinix Quiet 2 Is What You Need

0

Infinix Quiet 2 For A Decent Pair Of Earphones

If you need a decent pair of earphones, you should get the Infinix Quiet 2. Earphones are part of every individual who use gadgets on the go.

They use it to answer or make calls, as “handsfree” mode without heaving to resort to loud speakers. Earphones are also used to listen to music without disturbing other people. Loud music from your device could annoy others, so using earphones is advisable.

infinx

The Infinix Quiet 2

There is a new earphone in the market today. It is an inexpensive clone of the Bose QC20, which boasts of a noise cancellation module for a much cheaper price. This new gadget is called the Infinix Quiet 2.

The similarities between the Bose QC20 and the Infinix Quiet 2 are limited to its looks only. meaning, it just looks the same outside. The gadgets are diferent when it comes to performance and of course, their prices are miles apart.

Infinix Quiet 2’s Inspiration

This new earphones drew inspiration from the Bose QC20 (Quiet Comfort). The QC20 is known for its active noise cancellation (ANC) modules. This is what inspired the makers of Infinix. That is why this gadget was mostly patterned after the Bose QC20.

A Closer Look At The Infinix Quiet 2

For its packaging, the infinix Quiet 2 comes in a neat box with the earphones inside. It comes with a nice little pouch to carry it around. Also attached is the noise cancellation module. There are different-sized eartips to suit your need and a quick-start guide.

The earphones have a shark fin design for added grip. Its cables are attached to a volume control module that also holds a microphone. The voice control module further plugs into the noise cancellation module that has an ON/OFF switch, a green LED indicator, and a micro USB port for charging.

Its Sound Quality

Speaking of sound quality, the Infinix Quiet 2 has done a fairly decent job. The quality of its sound is good at mid-range. But if your volume goes beyond 75-80%, it tends to be over bearing.Overall, if you are not too keen about sound quality, this gadget may be considered a good item to have.

The ANC is supposed to cut off ambient noise and make you focus on the music. But in this case, it just manages to isolate the surrounding noise and bump up the volume of the gadget instead.

The Infinix Quiet 2 may be a clone of the Bose QC20. But it just looks the same. Its functions and performance are not similar, and its price is of course, very much different. The Infinix Quiet 2 is way cheaper so do not expect it to be as good as the Bose QC20.

moto z3 play

The Design And Display Of The Moto Z3 Play

As per leaked photos, the said smartphone will have a glass back design and a bezel-less 18:9 aspect ratio display. It does not appear to have a notch on top of the display like most flagships of this year. It will use a white software button instead of a physical home button.

Another noticeable change is the repositioned fingerprint sensor. It could be embedded on a button on the right side. It is also probable that the company could add other authentication methods for unlocking the phone, like facial recognition.

Its display could feature a 6-inch full HD display, with thin bezels on top and on the bottom. The “Motorola” branding could be found on the bottom bezel (or the chin), instead of the home button. Its dual rear cameras would be horizontally aligned along with dual LED flash. It will also come with support for the 16 magnetic pins at the back to connect Moto Mods.

Its Camera And Software

The Moto Z3 Play could sport 12MP+8MP sensors at the back with dual LED flash. Artificial Intelligence and the “Bokeh” mode support features for the camera is expected as well. But the details are still unclear at this point. The front shooter could be 5MP and the pone will run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.

Moto Z3 Play’s Processor, Battery, And Memory

A recent listing has hinted that it will run Snapdragon 636 processor instead. It could be available in 4GB RAM + 32GB/64GB of storage. A 3000mAh battery could back the device.

These are the available details of the Moto Z3 Play based on the leaked reports. But we have to wait for the official launch to know the full details of the device.
