Apple is reportedly working on a hybrid computer powered by ARM processors. It is codenamed Star and will likely support 4G LTE.

According to a report by 9to5Mac, the first prototypes have already been manufactured by Taiwanese manufacturer Pegatron. This is the same company that builds the current iPhone and iPad models. Some of the prototypes have already been shipped to Cupertino for testing.

As to the specs, the hybrid computer is believed to be powered by ARM processors. The device is claimed to have EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) used by Mac machines. Reports speculate that the Star will a derivative of iOS instead of a full-fledged macOS or iOS experience.

Additionally, Apple’s Star project could possibly include onboard GPS and Compass and a SIM card slot. It will come with a touchscreen that would sit alongside a physical keyboard. It is also highly possible that it will have Apple’s own processors which are also still in early development.

Don’t get your hopes up just yet though. As this project is still on its early stages, it won’t be coming anytime soon. Rumours suggest that it won’t be shipped to the market until 2020.
