Update To Android Oreo 8.1 Of OnePlus 5 And OnePlus 5T
OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T has been updated to Android 8.1 with OxygenOS 5.1.0. This update will bring Android Oreo 8.1 to both smartphones.
About The Update
OnePlus announced that it will be bringing out the latest OxygenOS 5.1.0 OTA update on the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. The OxygenOS updates include system updates such as the latest security patch and support for full screen gestures, and other gaming and launcher focused additions to the software. The size of the OTA file is said to be around 766MB.
Addition of a newer optimizations on gaming mode, also including pausing adaptive brightness and power saving is also part of the update. The gaming mode also adds network boost that includes network priority for gaming apps in the foreground.
Category tabs in the search section of the launcher’s app drawer, have been added by the Android 8.1 based OTA update. It automatically names folders based on category.
According to Manu J, “ As always, this OTA will be incremental. The OTA will reach a small percentage of users today, and will begin a broader roll out in the future.” Manu J is a staff member of the Beta Program and Developer Relations, OnePlus in the forum post.
Aside from some system updates, there are also security updates for both smartphones. Aside from the Android Oreo 8.1 installed on their phone, users will also get the latest April security patch on their phone.
The OnePlus 5 And OnePlus 5T
OnePlus released a couple of flagship smartphones last year. The Chinese manufacturer named it OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. These two devices are considered as flagship smartphones. For OnePlus in 2017 with the OnePlus 5T being the latest device in the company’s line up.
It is safe to say though, that the updates is pretty significant in terms of changes and the company. It has already rolled out the update as an OTA to all the aforementioned devices around the world in batches. It’s possible that the update will take a little more tome to arrive to your devices.
