Search giant Google has announced this week that Hangouts Chat is out of beta. The app known as the Slack competitor will be available to all G Suite subscriber.

The company said that G Suite subscribers could download the chat app if only approved by the managing company. This means that an approved G Suite user could actually use the chat app in the coming weeks. Google’s chat app now supports 28 global languages. The app has a holding capacity of 8, 0000 members for each chatroom.

Google Hangouts Chat: AI integration is possible

And Google’s chat app unique is its innovative integration of Artificial Intelligence including third-party services in Google’s chat app. Google users claim that the search giant’s announcement of Hangouts Chat beta is a calculated move to take on Slack.

Google had announced a year ago that Hangouts would become a business communication tool. Since then, Google has released two chat apps: the Hangout Meet which is for video chat and Hangouts Chat for text-based communication.

Also, Google’s Hangout Meet was launched back in March 2017 while Hangouts Chat is an app that could be accessed only by users who signed up through the company’s Early Adopter Program. It is very evident that Google’s Hangouts Chat is the company’s counter app against Slack. However, what is unclear is the intention behind the collection of several Hangouts-branded apps.

In a blog post on Wednesday, Scott Johnston, director of product management for Google Drive, said: “From direct messages to group conversations, Chat helps teams collaborate easily and efficiently,”

“With dedicated, virtual rooms to house projects over time — plus threaded conversations — Chat makes it simple to track progress and follow up tasks,” Johnston added.
