Cupertino-based company Apple is mulling to upgrade its Airpods. The company is now working on some physical improvements of the Bluetooth accessory. The upgraded Airpods, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, is likely to debut in the second half of 2018, a report from Macrumors said.

The news comes after a popular tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo disclosed some information about Apple Airpods. Recently, the tech company is facing new struggles to meet the supply demands of the Airpods. But Ming-Chi Kuo noted that based on the information sourced from investors, the upgraded Airpods will be available next year.

Will the new Airpod feature an improved design?

The KGI Securities analyst claims that the upgraded Airpods will be sold for a higher price. Regarding size, Ming-Chi Kuo says that TXC will supply the smaller quartz component of the rumored Airpods. He, however, did not give any details about the supposed physical improvements of the Airpods. This means that whatever improvements in the current Airpod design would not be a major consideration.

Despite this, Apple’s Bluetooth accessory remains to be popular. In fact, Apple is facing a demand issue about the Airpod’s supply. Recently, Apple fans could not place a new order about the new Airpod because it already reached its production quota. This means that Apple will not process new Airpod orders until after the holiday.

But KGI Securities analyst forecasted that the Airpod supply would be improving in 2018. This means that the shipment will eventually grow 100 percent in the coming years. He expects that there will be 28 million units of Airpods that will be sold.

Another good news is that the improved Airpod is expected to have a wireless charging case that is compatible with the Apple’s Airpower charging mat.
