Facebook continues to lord it over the social networking scene and is now the most used social networking site in 126 out of 137 countries the world over.
The Next Web said that, according to Vincenzo Cosenza, Facebook is still the king in 126 countries. He analyzed the data based on a combination of Google Trends and Alexa for Website traffic.
Consenza said, “Europe is the largest continent on Facebook with 232 million users, while North America has 222 million and the whole of Asia boasts 219 million users.”
However, when we talk about Russian speaking countries, Facebook lags behind VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.
In China, PC Magazine said that QZone is the foremost social networking site used. It has about 560 million users. They cite that the banning of Facebook in several areas in the country as the reason behind this.
QZone is followed by Tencent Weibo which has 337 million users and Sina Weibo with 334 million.
Meanwhile, other social network sites such as Twitter, Badoo and LinkedIn are battling it out for the second spot in various countries worldwide.
Consenza said, “If we take a look over Facebook’s shoulders we can see the battle for the second position between Twitter and LinkedIn or, especially in Europe, between Badoo and Twitter.”
