PayPal Here has been blasting the Web since it was launched by PayPal last week. It has secured thousands of signups in its first few days. In fact, the company said that they were getting 1,000 new members per hour during its first day.
Anuj Nayar spokesperson of PayPal said in a statement, “To say there’s been some interest in our new offering would be an understatement. Clearly there’s a need for a secure, global solution that provides small business the flexibility to get paid anytime, anywhere, any way.”
The concept behind this new service is like Square. They both offer a free service in which a device is plugged into a smartphone headphone jack and lets merchants or individuals accept credit cards through the phone. Their main goal is to streamline and simplify in-person payment transactions.
The primary difference with PayPal Here and other services is that this service is already global and has merchants in US, Hong Kong, Australia and Canada. To add to that, this service is under PayPal that has millions of clients in the world.
Currently, PayPal here is available for select merchants but the company is planning to open up to other merchants next month.
