As reported earlier, Apple unveiled the latest addition to its lineup on Monday, April 26. The Cupertino-based company announced the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition through a blog post on their website.

All the features are identical to the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus released last year except for the red finish.

Part of the revenue generated from sales of its (PRODUCT) RED devices and accessories is donated to help with counselling and treatment of people with HIV and AIDS. This is in partnership with partnership with RED, an advocacy group that raises awareness about AIDS/HIV in African countries.

The company didn’t announce a red version for the iPhone X. Apple’s most high end phone gets a red folio case instead. In the blog post, Apple described the folio as “crafted from specially tanned and finished European leather”.

Both the red iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available to order online today, April 10 and will start shipping this Friday. Pricing remains the same with their different-coloured counterparts beginning at $699 for a 64GB iPhone 8 and $799 for an 8 Plus.

On another note, Apple’s archival Samsung also announced a new color for their flagship phone for India. The limited-edition burgundy red Galaxy S8 is available for orders on Friday, April 13.
