The next flagship phone from Xiaomi will come with the company’s first of its kind in-screen fingerprint scanner. A leaked video also shows a hand-on with the Mi 8.
The Chinese smartphone giant is definitely gearing up for the upcoming May 31 event. Tickets have already been sold and it is expected to welcome as much as 5,000 guests.
Xiaomi is also prepared with a slew of products ready to unveil. This includes it’s latest flagship phone, the Mi 8 and Mi Band 3 fitness tracker. The company has also confirmed the announcement of its latest operating system, the MIUI 10. The product launches are all confirmed through official posters through Xiaomi’s Wieibo account.
Two new Xiaomi smartphones have gotten approval from US’ FCC and 3C in China. It is rumoured that these are the two variants of the Mi 8.
A leak which surfaced on Weibo, via Playfuldroid, shows us the pricing for the two variants. The 6GB RAM variant with 64 GB storage may be priced at 2,799 Yuan or about $438. The premium 8GB RAM variant with 128 GB storage is believed to have a price tag of 3,199 Yuan or about $500.
The upcoming Xiaomi flagship will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. It is said that the device will have a 6-inch OLED display and likely a notch at the top. It will also reportedly come with an in-screen fingerprint scanner, the first of its kind for its smartphone line. Additionally, the Mi 8 will also come with a 3D facial recognition system.
