The Steam Link for Android and iOS is set to be released next week.

Steam Link App

Steam is primarily intended as way to download and play games on a computer. Eventually, Valve made it possible to stream games to a TV over a local network.

Now, PC games will be playable on mobile phones and tablets soon thanks to the Steam Link App. Available for iOS and Android, the free app is set to be released next week.

According to Valve, the developer of the Steam, Steam Link allows gamers to stream PC games from their Steam library to their devices. The phone or tablet has to be connected to a 5 GHz wireless network or a wired Ethernet connection. The app also supports Apple TV, Android TV, Steam Controller and MFi controllers.

The Steam Link app is not actually new. It was already available as a service attached to a set-top box through Samsung smart TVs. This time however, it will be available to everyone who has access to a mobile device for free.

Valve also announced a second app set to be released “later this summer”. Called the Steam Video app, it allows you watch the movies and shows sold by Steam on your iOS or Android device. This can be done over both WiFi or LTE. Additionally, users are also able to download videos to watch offline.
