The new PS3 boasts of a slimmer package, about 20% smaller and 25% lighter than the previous one.
Sony will sell two versions of the PS3 game console. Buyers can opt to buy a PS3 with a 250GB hard drive or one with 500GB.
Sony said that the 250GB PS3 will retail at $270 and will be available this September 25. It comes with a Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception: Game of the Year Edition and a $30 voucher for DUST 514.
The 500GB model on the other hand will sell for $300 and will hit the shelves come October 30. This will be bundled with the Assassin’s Creed III game.
The current Sony PS3 160GB edition retails at $249 and the 320GB version sells for $300.
Director of hardware marketing John Koller wrote in the PlayStation blog, “As developers continue to release deep and rich digital gaming content, providing an option for larger HDD is essential, especially for games with large DLC packs and full game downloads, as well as personal entertainment content.”
