Google photo sharing appFacebook may have Instagram, but Google, in their desire to combat the social networking giant’s photo-sharing app, has just bought their own.

Announced last Monday, Google has bought Snapseed.

According to Google vice president of engineering Vic Gundotra, “We want to help our users create photos they absolutely love, and in our experience Nik does this better than anyone.”

Google launched their own social networking site Google+ a year ago to combat Facebook. They have just hit the 400 million member mark. 100 million individuals actively use the social networking site each month.

Nik said, “For nearly 17 years, we’ve been guided by our motto, ‘photography first,’ as we worked to builed world class digital image editing tools.”

“We’ve always aspired to share our passion for photography with everyone, and with Google’s support we hope to be able to help many millions more people create awesome pictures,” the Germany based company added.

Sharing images is one of the most popular activities that people do in their social networking accounts. Thus, Google bought Snapseed to have their very own photo-sharing service.

Other sites such as Pinterest have been popular and have made a mark in the photo sharing service market.

Let;s wait and see the collaboration etween Google and Snapseed then!
