Target Corp. is set to stop selling Amazon’s Kindle tablets as the feud between the two companies have been heating up.

According to Target spokesperson Molly Snyder in an email to Reuters, “Target is phasing out Amazon – and Kindle-branded products in the spring of 2012. We will continue to offer our guests a full assortment of e-readers and supporting accessories.”

The sales ban not only includes the Kindle device but also its accessories like covers and chargers. Target will still be selling e-readers like the Nook from Barnes & Noble.

Wells Fargo analyst Matt Nemer said, “This is evidence that Target is getting more serious about Amazon as an enemy rather than a partner.”

Target’s competitor Wal-Mart will still be selling Kindles.

The Kindle ban from Target resulted from increasing competition from small retailers that distribute and sell the Kindle.

Caris & Co. analyst Scott Tilghman said, “Target is trying to distance themselves from Amazon as much as possible because they recognize they are losing sales to them.”

He added that the, “Nook is much less cannibalistic and Barnes & Noble is not going after Target’s business.”

This move from Target wouldn’t really worry Amazon that much because their Kindles are being sold by retailers all over the country.
