Warning: You may develop “iPad shoulder”

Smartphones and tablets are a big help to society. When we consider the fact that it makes the world a much smaller place to live in and at the same time it helps us do our day to day activities, these technological advancements are a big boost to us mortals.

Since the days of gargantuan cell phones, problems arose due to the possibility of getting ailments from using them. One of which is the dreaded rheumatoid arthritis supposed to be caused by our thumb pressing or texting.

Now, a new problem has been discovered by a British physician named Tony Kockhar. According to him, iPads and tablets can cause shoulder problem he dubbed as “iPad Shoulder”.

Dr. Kockhar added that he sees up to 20 patients a week who is suffering from this problem. He explains that this problem is being caused by, “Holding the tablet lower down means users have to gaze downwards more sharply. This is increasing the pressure on their joints.”

He also added that tablet users are not the only ones who can suffer from this problem. Even smartphone users can be affected by this.

To avoid this ailment, Dr. Kockhar said that people should stop hunching over their mobile devices. He suggests holding their gadgets level with the face and frequent breaks and muscle stretching could also help.
