Paper Shoot, the Digital Camera made out of Paper!

I see articles all over the internet announcing the dawning of new products for people of all ages. Most of them I yawn at, however, because for one reason or another it doesn’t look cool. Now I don’t know about you, but I sure like cool gadgets. That’s one reason I signed up for Facebook early on, because it was cool. So when I find cool gadgets, I like to talk about them.

This gadget looks pretty awesome. The idea behind this digital camera came from Taiwanese entrepreneur George Lin. Now I spent a year in Taiwan, so I understand a fair amount of their culture and absolutely loved being there. George grew up in a traditional home, and like many Taiwanese had a large family with very little to spend on cool stuff like cameras and photos. He wanted to change that so he went to work on an inexpensive digital camera. The result was a paper-made camera called Paper Shoot that only costs $50!

There’s a reason this camera was made for kids.  It features a water-repellent case made of paper, can survive the accidental drop, only uses 2 AAA batteries and is easy on the parents budget. In addition, the child can also draw their own designs on the camera, hence why it was made of paper, to personalize their camera and we all know kids do that anyway, so my kid needs that. (or even be used for company brands, more on that in a bit). Not only that, but the camera also shows off four built-in photo effects and external camera lenses for the older child.

But if you didn’t think that was cool enough, just wait till you hear what they have planned for the next camera. They are looking to increase photo quality to 5MB, improve image stabilization, and make it compatible with LEGO bricks (for further camera customization).

Paper Shoot caught the eye of Hello Kitty and the Presidential Palace of Taiwan, so they are developing a custom designed line for them. The above picture is what they hand out at the Presidential Palace to foreign dignitaries.

So if you’re looking for safe and fun gadget for the kids to have, or know of someone who would like this, share the news with them.

Apple Tablet available on Feb 2010?

“There’s no smoke without the fire”, is an old saying that mac lovers probably hope holds true when it comes to the rumors about the Apple tablet.

And although the Apple event already took place last week and no Apple tablet was announced (leaving a lot of people disappointed), the rumors haven’t stopped circulating.

Now, a new “ update” about the tablet is circulating the web, and its saying that the Apple tablet is gonna be available on February next year. According to The Taiwan Economic News, this date came from Taiwanese parts suppliers.

The yet-to-be-seen device is said to have a 9.6-inch touch screen display and built-in HSPDA wireless date module. The processor is said to have been manufactured by PA SEMI, and some 300,000 long-lasting batteries for the tablet is said to be built by DynaPack International Technology too.

The rumor also says Wanshih Electronic Company has manufactured the cables, Mag. Layers Scientific-Technics Company for the power chokes, and Wintek has provided the display screens.

All these companies are from Taiwan and if you start thinking it’s not possible, it is. Wintek actually provides the display screens for Apple’s iPhone while Mag. Layers has also been supplying power chokes for Apple for some time now too.

Pretty specific for a rumor huh? 🙂
