#103 The God Of War Scene That Almost Got Cut

The team only had a year to implement this weapon and with all the bugs, flaws and everything else may have cut the scene out entirely! I’m so glad they didn’t, that is what made the game “worth it” for me.

God of War Fans, THANK YOU!

It’s been a year since God of War was released, and the team at the Santa Monica Studio want to thank their fans.

In 2015, we celebrated the 10 year anniversary of God of War, having started the saga back in 2005. And, so, here we are reflecting on the one year anniversary of a new era for Kratos, now with his son, Atreus. When Cory Barlog first brought us this transformative vision of a father and son embarking on an incredible journey together, a journey to honor a wife and a mother… but also one where a boy would teach his father how to be human again; and the father (Kratos) would teach his son how to be a measured god, we knew we had something special for our fans. Yet, change is hard. Change to a longstanding franchise comes with immeasurable doubt, a studio defining risk and a huge leap of faith. Thank you to our entire worldwide team; the Sony PlayStation family and you, the millions of God of War fans around the world who embraced that leap with us, on a journey we never expected. We made this journey together.

You can read the entire post on the PlayStation Blog, along with the video they have included (or just click play on the video above). According to the rest of the post, and as reference above, they have something special in store for us…

Today kicks off a week-long celebration where they will be releasing a God of War Anniversary character PS4 avatar set (coming out on Wednesday) and a PS4 dynamic theme. Just search for ‘God of War’ in the PlayStation store. Both are being released for free, regardless of whether you have purchased the game or not.

I, personally, thoroughly enjoyed this game and am excited for the next chapter to come out! Great job again guys and great work, keep it up!

IBM to acquire Red Hat in deal valued at $34 billion

IBM is acquiring Red Hat, a major distributor of open-source software and technology, in a deal valued around $34 billion, the companies announced on Sunday. According to a joint statement, IBM will pay cash to buy all shares in Red Hat at $190 each. Shares in Red Hat closed at $116.68 on Friday before the deal was announced. The open source, enterprise software maker will become a unit of IBM’s Hybrid Cloud division, with Red Hat CEO Jim Whitehurst joining IBM’s senior management team and reporting to CEO Ginni Rometty.

Sony reveals the rather disappointing list of games for the PS One Classic

PlayStation today revealed the list of games that will come bundled with its retro console, the PS One Classic. While the list does include several (ahem) classics and old favorites, there are still a few rather large holes in the library.

OnePlus 6T review: Pixel 3’s problems might make this the phone to own

OnePlus’ second flagship smartphone of 2018 has gotten off to a rocky start, to say the least. First of all, just about everything there is to know about the OnePlus 6T leaked long before the phone was announced on Monday. Of course, that pretty much goes without saying at this point, since details surrounding flagship phones always leak in advance. The real trouble arrived when it came time to schedule the OnePlus 6T announcement event. First, OnePlus reportedly pushed back its planned unveiling to avoid overlapping with Google’s Pixel 3 launch. Then, after landing on the date October 30th for its big reveal, Apple announced that its October press conference would be held on the same date. Competing with Apple for media coverage is obviously ill-advised, so the company bumped up its event to today, October 29th.

Tetris Effect is loaded with game modes designed to keep you coming back

Enhance Games’ stylish, trippy take on Tetris will come with a wide variety of modes tailored to appeal to your play style and mood, and those modes are designed to keep players coming back to Tetris Effect for weeks and months after the game launches. The puzzle game’s main “campaign” mode, known as Journey Mode, will send players on a trip through 27 levels, each with their own musical and visual themes. Each level is crafted to tell a story and let players feel different emotions as they play, vice president of production Mark MacDonald said during a hands-on gameplay preview. Levels in Journey Mode will take players from the deserts of Egypt to the solitary darkness of the Moon, while others venture deep into the sea to let players swim with dolphins as they line up puzzle pieces.

Beware of malware, adware when downloading Google Chrome through Microsoft Edge

New Windows 10 PC owners should be careful about downloading Google Chrome through Microsoft Edge, as Bing is apparently returning search results that contain malware and adware. There is a running joke that the only purpose of Microsoft Edge is to download Google Chrome, but it appears that the tables could easily turn for users who are not careful. Fortunately, Twitter user Gabriel Landau did not fall prey to a fake Google Chrome download page returned by a Bing search.

Here’s why your Zoey skin in Fortnite has been removed

A number of players started to notice that opponents using the Zoey skin were harder to see at a certain distance, and it didn’t take long to confirm that they were actually becoming totally invisible to both friends and foes. Strangely, the pickaxes and weapons of the players were still visible but this definitely wasn’t an intended change for to turn Zoey into a ghost for the ongoing Fortnitemares Halloween event.

The Fancy Display Tech Samsung Apparently Wants for Its Future Phones Sounds Amazing

Samsung is one of the clear leaders in mobile display tech, and its screens are found in a wide range of flagship devices including its own Galaxy phones and those of its biggest competitors like Apple. However, one of the biggest complaints about the Galaxy S9 is that looks virtually identical to last year’s device, a sentiment that arose largely due to the fact that Samsung didn’t do much to change up the S9’s screen. However, based on a number of leaks and rumors, that may not be an issue for Samsung’s next big phone, which could boast one of the most advanced mobile displays yet.

GameWisp is Saying Goodbye

The GameWisp subscription platform will be shutting its doors in January of 2019. For more than half a decade, we’ve had the privilege of being a part of the gaming content ecosystem and working with countless amazing creators. In that time, the world of “Let’s Plays” and the earliest of Twitch streams has turned from niche internet trend to a fundamental part of pop culture, and it’s been an absolute honor to have been along for the ride.

INTEL IS PREPARING FOR A DUAL-SCREEN COMPUTER FUTURE

At Intel’s headquarters in Santa Clara, California, Dieter Bohn got the chance to see the development process for two prototype devices that could be an early look at what might be coming next for computers. They’re dual-screen tablets that are unlike anything that’s on the market today, but they’re also very far from being finished products you’d want to use.

Microsoft has a platinum edition Xbox One X bundle, but there’s a catch

Microsoft is set to release a special limited edition Xbox One X bundle that includes the console and an Elite wireless controller in a sleek platinum finish. The package deal also contains 3-month subscriptions to Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold. The whole bundle is worth about $600. There’s just one catch — it’s not for sale. Microsoft is partnering with Taco Bell in a cross-promotion. Starting on Thursday, October 18, and going through November 21, anyone who orders a $5 “Double Chalupa Box” from Taco Bell will receive a code that they can submit online or via text message that will enter them to win one of the platinum beauties.

‘Rocket League’ cross-platform profiles delayed until 2019

Rocket League’s cross-platform profile system, RocketID, has been pushed back until early next year. Psyonix said that it’s working “incredibly hard to ensure that it’s as intuitive, stable and polished as possible, before releasing it to the world.” When it arrives, RocketID will enable cross-platform parties and friend connections.

‘Friday Night Fortnite’ Tournament: Start/End Times, Rules, Scoring, Prizes And How To Enter

It would be easy to be confused about the name, but take note: this is not Friday Fortnite, the Keemstar-hosted Fortnite tournament that served as the first major professional Fortnite event. Keemstar’s Friday Fortnite was eventually cancelled after Epic kept scheduling Fall/Summer Skirmish events on Friday night, and as a sort of nail in the coffin the developer has apparently decided to start holding its own in-game weekly tournament and naming it Friday Night Fortnite. The first one starts tonight, so read on for rules, timing, scoring and more.

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen dies of cancer at age 65

[04:09] Microsoft Co-Founder Paul Allen has died from complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Vulcan Inc. said Monday on behalf of his family. Allen passed away Monday afternoon in Seattle at 65 years old, Vulcan said. His sister, Jody, said he was “a remarkable individual on every level.” “While most knew Paul Allen as a technologist and philanthropist, for us he was a much-loved brother and uncle, and an exceptional friend. Paul’s family and friends were blessed to experience his wit, warmth, his generosity and deep concern,” she said in a statement. “For all the demands on his schedule, there was always time for family and friends. At this time of loss and grief for us – and so many others – we are profoundly grateful for the care and concern he demonstrated every day.”

Malicious messages reportedly crashing PlayStation 4 consoles

[05:53] We’ve seen single malicious messages able to crash smartphones, but now there’s one for Sony’s PlayStation 4 console to look out for – users on social media and Reddit are reporting receiving a certain specially coded message that’s enough to put their hardware out of action. For now, you can set your PlayStation 4 and its mobile apps to only accept messages from friends you’ve already confirmed, or block messages completely: the options are under Account Management then Privacy Settings in the console settings. If you are hit with problems, one fix appears to be rebooting in Safe Mode and then rebuilding the database which shouldn’t affect your data.

Winamp is coming back as an all-in-one music player

[07:39] Winamp, the legendarily customizable music player, is being revamped as a mobile app that will give you one place to listen to all your music — including playlists, podcasts, streaming radio stations, and more, as reported by TechCrunch.

Players are exploiting Black Ops 4 emotes to peek around corners

[09:33] The first-person perspective in shooters usually brings an inherent kind of balance to the constant battle for cover—if you peek your head out to see an opponent, they’ll be able to see you as well. Over the weekend, though, Black Ops 4 players found the game’s new gesture system had the unintended side effect of breaking this balance, letting players easily and safely see around cover from a third-person perspective.

Pokémon Go Gen 4 Pokémon list, estimated release date: Every creature from Diamond and Pearl’s Sinnoh region listed

[11:57] Pokémon Go’s Gen 4 will offer 107 new Pokémon, the second largest addition of new creatures to the game since its summer 2016 debut – topping the 80 or so added in Gen 2, and close to the numbers we seen in Gen 3. These Gen 4 Pokémon are from the franchise’s fourth generation of games – Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum – and feature many evolutions of creatures from previous generations, as well as some new baby Pokémon and, as always, brand new Legendary creatures.

Epic Games Is Suing A YouTuber For Cheating

[18:24] Once again, Epic Games is taking a couple of cheaters to court, after the studio filed a lawsuit against YouTuber Brandon Lucas, also known as Golden Modz, and his partner Colton Conter that goes by the name Excentric. Lucas got into trouble with Epic Games after posting several videos on his YouTube channel with 1.7 million subscribers, where he is seen cheating in Fortnite and selling cheat tools via his website, which allegedly violates the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. Conter, on the other hand, would sometimes participate in these videos, which is why Epic Games included him in the lawsuit.

“Tournaments” Mode Coming to Fortnite This Week

[20:31] There will be a new “Events” section to the game, which you will find the available tournaments. “In-Game Tournaments are open to everyone and provide an opportunity for every player to compete directly alongside the pros for prizes and glory. Note that all players must opt-in for crossplay to participate in competitive events. During tournaments, players from all platforms will compete against one another as equals, regardless of if they are on a Mouse, Controller, or Touch input device. Every player will participate in the same competitions from start to finish, with equal opportunity to rise above the competition.”
