Tech company Apple Inc. is now facing multiple lawsuits. Apple users filed lawsuits because they are not happy with Apple. Just this week, five Apple users have reportedly filed a lawsuit in New York. These five Apple users are seeking a class-action against Apple.

The lawsuit stemmed after the Cupertino-based tech company admitted that it slows down iPhone because of ageing batteries. Major news dailies in the US first reported the lawsuit filed against Apple. Other Apple users also filed this week.

It can be recalled that Apple had admitted that it slowed down several iPhones like the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, and SE through a software update.

Apple explains the slowdown feature

Apple explained that the slowing down of smartphones is necessary to
“smooth[ed] out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down.”

Apple further reasoned out that iPhone batteries “become less capable of supplying peak current demands when in cold conditions, have a low battery charge, or as they age over time, which can result in the device unexpectedly shutting down to protect its electronic components.”

iPhones are powered by lithium-ion batteries. Apple said that the software update rolled out in iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus prevented the lithium-ion batteries from ageing.

But iPhone owners noticed that their smartphones slowed down after updating to a new version of iOS. They also claimed that slower iPhones pushed them to buy new models.

Had they known that batteries are to be blamed, iPhone owners would have rather replaced the ageing battery than buying a new iPhone.

iPhone owners said that Apple should be more transparent about the battery issue on their smartphones. The slowdown feature issue surfaced after bloggers have tested the iPhones after getting an iOS update.
