Want to be the most popular individual in your Facebook friends’ news feeds? Want to let them know what you did overseas?
Well, to address your innate desire to be seen and be popular, social media giant Facebook announced that users in the US can now promote their posts to friends. You read that right! You can now force your posts to be seen by your friends.
But there’s a catch. You will have to pay a certain amount for you to be able to do this.
This feature is available in other countries for quite some time already. Facebook only rolled out this feature last Wednesday to American FB users.
According to The Verge, the price for promoting your posts, it would cost you $7.
Though Facebook might be harping on businesses with this feature, I can seem to see a vision of my wall post being bombarded by an obnoxious individual who I will soon delete.
According to a blog post, Facebook said, “Sometimes a particular friend might not notice your post, especially if a lot of their friends have been posting recently and your story isn’t near the top of their feed. When you promote a post – whether it’s wedding photos, a garage sale, or big news – you bump it higher in news feed so your friends and subscribers are more likely to notice it.”
Hopefully that is the case and not personal satisfaction.
Would you pay to promote a post?
