Instagram benefited by Facebook acquisition


It’s been almost 4 months since the day that Facebook bought Instagram and many things have changed for both of them.

Facebook has been on the stock market, risking a lot, in order to gain even more, with everything that such a move entails. Their users are almost 1 billion now and it is still dominant in social networks. Intagram has been more popular than ever, skyrocketing their fame with the acquisition from Facebook, reaching a much wider audience. Although Instagram was already a well known application, the collaboration with Facebook enabled them to gain more fans. According to their new blog post, they have reached 80 million users, in comparison with the 30 million users they had back before the deal with Facebook or the launching of the app in the Android smartphones.

In more detail, they stated:

“We’re excited to announce that the Instagram community has grown to over 80 million registered users who have shared nearly 4 billion photos! Since we launched Instagram in October 2010, we’ve expanded from one platform to two, bringing Instagram to Android users as well as iOS users. As the community has grown, we’ve seen people sharing photos from all around the world, from South Korea to Bolivia, and even underwater!”

Although the Android application affected significantly these increased numbers, Facebook should still feel responsible for the hype they created over Isntagram.

When you are reading about an application that is bought for 1 billion dollars, you definitely want to see what the fuss is about.

As it seems, Instagram did make a good decision about the collaboration with Facebook. Don’t you agree?
