Software giant Microsoft announced their new partnership that enables Xbox 360 owners to have access to Amazon’s streaming video content selection from their consoles.
Pegged at $60 annually, users will be subscribed to an Xbox Live Gold account, while Amazon’s Prime membership is pegged at $79 per year. This will give the subscribers access to the Xbox’s free Amazon Instant Video app and can view more than 17,000 movies and TV shows.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t support buying and renting videos for the Xbox 360 console. Those who are not subscribed to Amazon’s Prime membership can buy one of movies and TV shows through Amazon.com/instantvideo.
To those who would want to try the service, Amazon is giving a one-month trial of Amazon Prime.
The Instant Video service of Amazon streams latest episodes of popular shows a few days or a day after they air.
For those who have Kindle Fire tablet, the Xbox 360 Amazon Instant Video app works together with the former.
Xbox owners can download the Amazon Instant Video app in the “Apps” tab of the console.
This is the first time that the app has been made available to Xbox 360 users. Last April, Amazon launched a similar app to Sony’s Playstation 3.
