Research In Motion Ltd. and US telecommunications company AT&T have teamed up together to offer RIM’s latest smartphone, the BlackBerry Torch 9800.
The Torch has a slider touch screen and a QWERTY keyboard that slides out of the smartphone. This latest device run on the BlackBerry OS 6.
Co-Chief Executive Officer of Research In Motion, Mike Lazaridis said, “This is one of the most product launches in our history. The product is very special because of all the innovations it includes.”
The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is similar to the Palm Pre Plus with a business twist. This is the initial device that runs on BlackBerry’s latest operating system, the OS 6. The latest OS has some advantages to its predecessor such as Universal search, a better user interface, better browser experience and excellent multimedia experience. It weighs about 161.1 gms with a 3.2 inch touch screen display with a 480 x 360 pixels. The camera has 5 mega pixels with flash and auto focus function.
The Torch has an internal memory of 512 MB. It is expandable to 4 GB using a MicroSD memory card.
