Rumors have been spreading about the reason behind Research In Motion’s delayed release for their new Blackberry 10.
One rumor has it that RIM is delaying the launch due to the fact that “they don’t have a working product yet”. This was according to Boy Genius Report. The latter cited a “trusted” source as their reference.
Mike Lazaridis, co-CEO of RIM, said that the phones, which was supposed to be released to the public early 2012, have delayed the release due to the fact that they are still waiting for their new LTE chipsets. This was according to the company’s last earnings call.
The report also stated that Blackberry’s basic features are still not in the new platform.
In a statement, RIM’s PR team asserted that the reason for the delayed launch and insisted that the report was “inaccurate and uninformed”.
The company said in a statement that, “RIM made a strategic decision to launch BlackBerry 10 devices with a new, LTE-based dual core chip set architecture”. They also added, “any suggestion to the contrary is simply false. We appreciate the interest in our future platform and we will continue to work hard to deliver that platform as soon as possible.”
