Zelda: Breath of the Wild: Zelda Director Explains The Game’s Dungeons

Fans of the popular game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have something to cheer about. The game’s director Hidemaro Fujibayashi and Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma have shared some information about their design decisions of the game.

Fujibayashi’s and Aonuma’s statement came as game developer Nintendo is planning to adapt the Zelda game franchise. Both personalities are in tandem for the supposed first episode of the Nintendo Power podcast.

However, what is clear though is that the game will be more of an “open-world” format. Under such game format, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has actually drawn mixed reactions from the gamers-both good and bad, actually.

What gamers should expect in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild?

Fujibayashi, in an interview, revealed that his team would be focusing more on creating big fields in the Zelda game for players to explore. He noted that in the previous Zelda series, the game’s dungeon was very long. This time, Fujibayashi reasoned out that the team tinkered with the possible ratio that players can find the Shrines in the game.

Fujibayashi said that players could expect around 100 or so Shrines in the Breath of the Wild game. In fact, he added that his team is considering to construct a long Shrine and big dungeons. But he expressed doubt in pushing such plan because of the possibility that players may overstay in the dungeons.

Also, Fujibayashi said that players would only be staying in each Shrine for 10 minutes long. Aside from this, there are other growing concerns about the game. The time that players require to stay in each Shrine and the idea of creating gigantic dungeons invoked a certain gravity that would lead to the establishment of the game’s Divine Beasts.

Meanwhile, Aonuma further explained that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s Shrines double both as a warp point and short dungeons. Players can download the game for Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
