Being the frontman of Queen, Freddie Mercury became the face of a generation. Together with his bandmates, they helped revolutionize the music scene and helped usher a new breed of bands.
Rovio, the company behind Angry Birds, has decided to turn Freddie Mercury into an Angry Bird character in time of his birthday on the 5th of September.
Rovio is teaming up with the “Freddie for a Day” campaign, which celebrates the late singer’s life and helps raising fund for his charity, the Mercury Phoenix Trust.
Freddie Mercury died in 1991 due to complications of him having contracted the deadly AIDS virus.
In a statement by Rovio CMO peter Vesterbacka he said, “Freddie for a Day is such a great way to honor Freddie’s fun and flamboyant spirit while delivering an important message. ”
“Queen’s music has endured for a reason, because its creativity and contagious fun appeals to fans of all agaes, and we’re happy to help keep Freddie’s memory and music alive for new generations.”
