Facebook is always trying new things and this time they seem to be testing the addition of a “want” button.

If you are following Facebook’s updates, you know that it loves testing new features, even though users do not always agree with them. This time, they are testing a “want” button. According to Tom Waddington, web developer for Cut Out + Keep, there was a beta “Want” button in the Javascript coding of social plugins, which could be added next to “Like” and “Subscribe” buttons. The “Want” button would indicate what the Facebook users would like to buy, either as a desiredd purchase, or as a planned one.

This would be very useful for e-shops and retailers, in order to measure what is desired by users and act accordingly. In addition, it would be an opportunity to promote their products to the other Facebook friends and create a new marketing strategy.

However, the button is not available for use yet, and is not certain whether it will be integrated into Facebook in the future. As Facebook told in Mashable:

“We’re always testing new Platform features. However, we have nothing new to announce.”

Would you like to have a “want” button? Would you use it?
