It looks like Wikipedia has allies on its opposition to the Stop Online Piracy Act being pushed by the US Government.

Google, the world’s most preferred search engine, is going to inform its visitors of their resistance to the bill in their US homepage tomorrow.

A statement released by Google said that they will be joining Wikipedia and other websites and tech companies in a show of solidarity against S.O.P.A..

But unlike Wikipedia and other sites, Google is not going to suspend its services tomorrow.

A spokesperson from Google said, “like many businesses, entrepreneurs and web users, we oppose these bills because there are smart, targeted ways to shut down foreign rogue websites without asking American companies to censor the Internet. Tomorrow we will be joining many other tech companies to highlight this issue on our US home page.”

Reddit, who along with Wikipedia, will shut down their websites for a day in a sign of protest, was the first site to announce the blackout.

According to some individuals, the bill will do unrepairable damage on the web.
