YouTube is spreading their wealth

Amateur videos never earned in the video posting site before. Even if your video has reached millions of views, YouTube wouldn’t even consider sharing a cent with you.

All that’s changed now that they’ve extended their YouTube Partnership Program. In a their blog, the company says that it’s time to “recognize the role popular one-off videos play on YouTube, and have helped many people earn thousands of dollars a month as their videos went viral and endured over time.”

The YouTube Partnership Program before was offered only to popular users who regularly produce videos that reach a wide audience. The newly extended program now allows individual users to get a chance of earning too, based on the number of views the video has generated as well as its compliance with the site’s terms of service.

Once YouTube decides that your video is eligible, they will notify you through an email. The site then will create revenue for you by selling advertising against your video. Your earnings will be paid into your Google AdSense account each month.

Unfortunately, this option is available for users in the U.S. for now. Don’t worry too much though, because YouTube says they’re hoping to have this feature internationally too.
