A video surfaced on Thursday, hinting that Apple may actually release a second-generation iPhone SE. The supposed iPhone SE leaked video was first spotted on Sina Weibo, China’s social media website.
Leaked video shows iPhone SE
A quick check of the video showed an unreleased version of iPhone SE that features a glass back. The short video clip was reuploaded to YouTube. Among the features that the leaked iPhone SE video revealed was the support for wireless changing.
Regarding the phone’s physical aspect, the leaked iPhone SE looks similar to the current phone. It is a 4-inch phone that has top and bottom bezels, a Touch ID, a front camera as well as earpiece. The phone also retains the 3.5mm headphone jack.
However, there’s only a minor difference if you are going to review the video. The supposed Apple iPhone lacks regulatory labels. This prompted Apple users to question the phone’s originality. Hence, as of this posting, all the information should be viewed with skepticism.
In case you don’t know, the production of substandard iPhones in China is a thriving market. One thing to note is that the source of the leaked video is not revealed. More so, the video’s authenticity has yet to be confirmed by Apple for this matter.
One thing is clear though: the phone in the video actually an accurate dummy of a certain phone model. This information is based on the supply chain information. In a blog posted by Japanese Mac Otakara, he claims that a new Apple iPhone is expected to be released this coming May.
Apple is reportedly unveiling the iPhone SE 2 next month. It will come with touch ID, an A10 Fusion chip but without a headphone jack.
Another day, another rumour for Apple products. This time, it’s about the iPhone SE 2 and it could be coming REALLY soon.
Japanese blog Macotakarahas published new details pertaining to the iPhone SE 2 after talking to a case maker of the phone. This new information coincides with the Eurasian regulatory filings of new Apple models this month.
According to the report, the latest iPhone SE will be launched as early as next month. It will have the same look as the original iPhone SE with the same 4″ display and touch ID. However, it will now be powered with an A10 processor similar to the iPhone 7. Apple Pay is still supported using NFC.
A big difference on the design however, is the removal of the headphone jack. Apple started dropping the headphone jack on its iPhones with the iPhone 7 when they marketed it as water resistant. Could this be a new feature of the iPhone SE as well?
The image posted on the blog showed a case with the same colour as the iPhone 8 blush gold. And similar to the latter, the report claims that the new model also has a glass back and could probably support wireless charging.
Since its launch in March 2016, Apple hasn’t released a new version of the iPhone SE. Perhaps it will finally be this year? Let’s wait and see!
Here’s what you need to know about Apple’s iPhone SE 2.
The first iPhone SE came out in March 2016, and surprisingly, we have not seen a predecessor yet. Could this year be finally it?
First off, the release date.
Some rumours have pegged it to be 2018. Analyst Karl Ackerman suggests that it could be May or June, coinciding with other rumours of a mid-year release. Ming-Chi Kuo, another analyst, however, thinks Apple won’t be able to.
“With three new models in the pipeline for the second half of 2018, we believe Apple may have used up its development resources”, he explains.
So how much is this compact phone going to be?
With Apple charging a premium for their iPhone X, people are expecting the iPhone SE 2 to be lighter in the pocket at around $450. The first iPhone SE started at $399 for 16GB and has since been discontinued while the 32GB version is now at $349. We wont be surprised if its predecessor will be somewhere along that lines too.
What will the iPhone SE 2 look like?
Quite a lot of “leaks” on the phone’s design have been surfacing over the months. A video on the Chinese social networking site shows a block-type shape. One notable difference is the full-screen display on the front with a notch similar to the iPhone X.
Although a closer look at the video makes it more apparent that its display is not as good as Apple, the design does coincide with a sketch sent to BGR by a “reliable” source showing the phone’s full-screen display.
With the possible launch of the iPhone 9 and bigger iPhone X, there’s lesser attention on the iPhone SE 2. However, people who prefer smaller phones and cheaper alternative, this is still something to look out for.
