According to reports, hackers have already spread this malicious program that will turn off your antivirus protection and would alter DNS routing of websites by redirecting the browser to a different server.
A DNS server is the one that translates a web address to a language that the computer understands.
Hackers have already begun an online scam that began last year. Those who are victimized are unaware of this problem. About 570,000 computers around the globe are infected with the virus. This malware takes advantages Microsoft Windows vulnerabilities to install the virus.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation believes that about 568,000 Internet addresses are using such rogue servers. Last March, the Bureau estimated that these are now down to 360,000. The US has the most number of it, followed by Italy, India, England and Germany.
The FBI arrested six Estonians last year that were said to be a part of the group.
The FBI has set up a new service months ago to prevent Internet disruptions for those who are infected. But reports have it that this system is going to shut down this July. The Bureau is saying that users visit a website being run by its security partner that will them whether they’re infected and find out how to fix this problem.
