If you’re a small business owner, you deal with a lot of data! From customer credit card info, to all of their paperwork, invoices, and any projects you’re working upon, all of those little bits and bytes add up to some gigantic storage needs. And, you want both your clients and your team to be able to access files working remotely as well. What are some of the best ways to safely store all of that data at your business?

Use On-Site Storage

It is possible to store data on site safely! You do, however, need to have a cyber security expert to professionally assess your needs. One of the issues with doing old-school backups is that they take more and more time to backup as they grow. Older files also get backed-up in multiples. This can include batch storage and network storage solutions. However, this way you have a firm backup of all of the data saved, if you schedule backups regularly. Skip one? Oh, well, all those new files are gone.

Use Cloud Services

Storage in the Cloud is another great option for many businesses, again with cyber security checks. Microsoft Azure, for example, is one of the most reliable cloud platforms in the world. This type of storage gives you the chance to save both space and electricity, as all of your data is stored off-site. Remote workers can access it as well, which is always a bonus if you have those who work remotely. Some services, like Dropbox, are secure enough that legal offices use them habitually.

Disaster Protected Storage

In the instance of a severe disaster, having critical files backed up in a way where restoration can happen easily is critical. A DAS or NAS system takes all of your critical files and protects them completely. Even if most of your storage is uploaded to the cloud, having a storage system which is both fireproof and waterproof can make you feel a great deal less worried about ongoing storage needs, and know that your files are permanently protected.

Regardless of what sort of system you plan on using, making sure that they are safely protected is critical to your business. Ask your cyber security specialist what option is best for your type of business. It’s the most critical thing to have that you hope you’ll never actually need but will be grateful if you do!
