A new social app is gaining popularity now and may threaten Facebook. This social app is called “Vero” and has been drawing people away from using Zuckerberg’s social media app platform. It may also threaten other social media apps like Instagram, Twitter, among others.

Vero app: What you need to know?

Vero, the new social media app, has topped the overall app on Apple’s App Store. The app also ranked third on Goggle’s Play Store. What makes Vero app popular is that it has no advertising and algorithm feeds that normally found in Facebook.

The new social media app was launched Tuesday this week, and since then, the number of users who downloaded the app are increasing. Vero has been around since 2015, according to Adam Blacker, communications lead and brand ambassador of the app research firm Apptopia.

Blacker has attributed Vero’s surge in popularity to Facebook’s issues. “People see the ads saying no algorithms, data collections, ads and it feels like freedom.”

One of the goals of the new social media app is to give users a more “authentic” social experience as stated in the app’s published manifesto.

“Most social networks reduce everyone to a friend or a follower. This encourages us to only share the parts of our lives we think are the most interesting. When you can control who sees what, you can behave in a way that is more natural, which we believe ends up being better for you,” reads a dispositive portion of the manifesto.

Users can use the app’s various tools like sharing photos, videos, music. The app has also addressed the problem of other social media platforms. The app allows users to group friends easily and make some adjustments based on users’ group preferences through Loops.

Vero’s Loops features the following categories like Close Friends, Friends or Acquaintances. In addition, the app is also subscription-based, so Vero’s makers promise no advertising. The app also offers its one million subscriptions of no annual fee for life.
