Pre-season Update: Blue Essence and Keystones

It’s almost the end of the year which means another season will end for League of Legends. With Season 8 coming up, Garena made some few changes with our beloved online game. We already have Blue Essence instead of IP and the Keystones (say goodbye to our good ol’ Runes and Masteries).

Before we discuss the different Keystones, let’s talk about Blue Essence for a start. Instead of using IP to buy from the store, we will use Blue Essence. Essence still works the same as IP and there are some featured items which you can purchase using your Blue Essence. I actually got I lot of Skin Wards using the essence.

What are Keystones?

Keystones replaced the Runes and Masteries that we got used to when playing League of Legends. Having this change made a huge impact to the League community. Some may say that it’s a bad change, others may want this new feature.

There are 5 different groups of Keystones. We have Precision, Domination, Sorcery, Resolve and Inspiration.

Precision

Precision

The first Keystone improves attack and sustains damage. This Keystone includes Press the Attack which makes an enemy champion vulnerable after hitting them three consecutive times. It also has Lethal Tempo which allows you to temporarily exceed the attack speed limit. Lastly, is Fleet Work which makes attacking and moving build Energy Stacks. When your champion reach 100 stacks, your next attack will heal you and you will be granted increased MS.

Domination

Domination

Let’s move on to the second Keystone which is Domination. It grants Burst Damage and Target Access to a champion. Under this Keystone are Electrocute, Predator and Dark Harvest. For Electrocute, Bonus Adaptive Damage is granted when you hit an enemy champion with three separate attacks or abilities within 3 seconds. Predator on the other hand adds an active effect to your boots. Using Dark Harvest makes champions, large minions, and large monsters drop soul essence.

Sorcery

Empowered Abilities and Resource Manipulation is what you’ll get from Sorcery. We have Summon Aery (who looks like a cute cat :D) which you can send to a target using your attacks and abilities. Second is the Arcane Comet which you can hurl to an enemy champion’s location by damaging them with an ability. Third, Phase Rush which grants you a burst of MS after hitting an enemy with 3 separate attacks or abilities.

Resolve

The fourth Keystone is called Resolve which gives you Durability and Crowd Control. Three parts of this are: Grasp of the Undying, Aftershock and Guardian. Grasp of the Undying heals you, increases your health permanently every 4 seconds of your next attack. Aftershock grants you additional defenses after immobilizing an enemy. Guardian grants a shield to you and your ally.

Inspiration

This is actually my favorite Keystone. It grants you Creative Tools and Rule Bending. We have Unsealed Spellbook which allows you to change Summoner Spells when you’re near your base. Next is the Glacial Augment which slows down your enemy during your first attack. Last is Kleptomancy (my favorite), wherein your first attack grants you gold or other consumables.

There are Keystones which are ready to use in-game but if you want to play around, use this guide to help you build great Keystones and forge your path towards VICTORY.
