Microsoft offers Windows 8 upgrade to old Windows users

Good news to Microsoft customers. The company is offering to upgrade your existing Windows OS to the new Windows 8 for just $39.99.

If you’re an existing Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP user, you are qualified to avail their downloadable copy of Microsoft’s latest OS.

If you decide upgrade to Windows 8 using a CD, you can opt to walk in to a partnered establishment and pay $69.99 for the product.

A post on the blog of the Windows 8 says that you can bring certain files and user settings along with you during the upgrade.

The post reads, “It will ask you what you want to keep from your current Windows installation. You will be able to upgrade from any consumer edition of Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro and bring everything along which includes your Windows Vista, you will be able to bring along your Windows settings and personal files, and if you upgrading from Windows XP you will only be able to bring along your personal files. Of course, if you want to start fresh, you can choose to bring nothing along.”

If you have a bootleg version installed on your PC or laptop then you can skip this as your product will not be upgraded.

This offer is open until January 31.
