A new study confirms what individuals used to perceive as a hunch or hypothesis.
Mobile network giant O2 has concluded that, on the average, individuals spend 24 minutes and 49 seconds a day using their smartphones to browse the Internet. Lagging far behind is making voice calls which, O2 says, is only used 12 minutes 15 seconds per day.
The study shows that using your smartphones to make calls is not the most popular use of the smartphone. In fact, it only stands fifth behind Internet browsing, using social media, listening to music and playing games.
Writing emails, sending text messages, watching TV and movies and reading ebooks and using your smartphone to take pictures round up the list.
According to O2 general manager of devices, David Johnson, “Smartphones are now being used like a digital ‘Swiss Army Knife’, replacing possessions like watches, cameras, books and even laptops.”
“While we’re seeing no let up in the number of calls customers make or the amount of time they spend speaking on their phones, their phone now plays a far greater role in all aspects of their lives,” he added.
