Sony rolls out Android Ice Cream Sandwich update for 2011 Xperia

Japanese tech giant Sony has confirmed that they have started rolling out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to its 2011 Xperia smartphones.

This was posted in their official blog, the Sony Xperia Product Blog, where they said that the update is coming to the Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and Xperia Ray. The first countries that will have these upgrades will first roll out in Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Norway. Others will follow suite.

It is said that these updates will roll out in the next 4-6 weeks.

The company also stated that they will roll out further updates for their Xperia models by May or June. These handsets includes Xperia Arc, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo, Xperia Mini, Xperia Mini Por, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman.

The company has been very slow in providing updates for their product lines. Customers have been yelling for an Ice Cream Sandwich update for quite some time already.

You can also connect your device to your computer and download and install the update there.

Samsung and HTC have already rolled out there Android OS updates. The Galaxy S2 and Sensation XE have received updates to the latest OS already.
