According to Intel CEO Paul Otellini, the first Atom based smartphone is due this week. The company partnered with Indian company Lava to develop Atom based Android devices. The latter has announced that they are launching their Xolo X9000 in India.

This phone is said to have a 4.03 inch display with 1023 x 600 resolution or 295 PPI. It also features an 8 MP rear camera with flash, 10 fps burst mode and 1080p video recording, 1.3 MP front-facing camera, 1GB RAM, 16GM internal storage, SHSPA+ connectivity, HDMI output and NFC built-in.

The phone unfortunately has an old Android OS and not the Ice Cream Sandwich. It is said to run on an Android 2.4 Gingerbread OS.

The Xolo X900 has Intel’s Atom Z2460 processor that is single core. This processor is basically devised like Intel’s x86.

The next Intel based Android is said to be launched in China. The Lenovo K800.

The rest of the world will have to wait as this two will be off of their shores for quite some time.
