Mobile USB modems are nothing new to the scene. Chinese company Huawei is one of the biggest companies that are investing so much into this technology and have been releasing modems for quite some time now.

But one company is trying to change the business landscape of this device. The wireless carrier introduced the Stick Atlas. Though they are mostly known as an unlimited 4G data plan company, they are now trying their luck on this market.

The Stick Atlas is the first USB cellular modem out there that doesn’t require a software at all. This plug and play modem woks the moment you plug the device to your USB port much like when you use your desktop computer’s network port.

According to the company, their latest USB modem is only 1.2 inches wide and 3.25 inches high with a 0.6 inch diameter and only weighs a measly 1.1 ounces. It is already available and is pegged at $50. To bundle it with an unlimited data plan consumers need to pay at least $35 for it.

The Stick Atlas is compatible with Windows, both Vista and 7, Mac OS X, Linux, Android and Chrome OS.

Now, if they can only fix the usual problem of USB internet sticks, the intermittency of signals.
