Hulu is going one step further after the company revealed that they are going to show their first scripted original show next month.

The political drama entitled “Battleground” is produced by Hagai Shaham, Marc Webb and JD Walsh. It’s their second after releasing the documentary by Morgan Spurlock entitled “A Day In The Life.”

Hulu is known to show programs from their mother companies like Walt Disney, NBC Universal and others.

Hulu’s programming executive Andy Forsell said that their first documentary (A Day In The Life) has been a huge success but declined to reveal final figures.

“A Day In The Life” is going to be followed by a six episode documentary called “Up To Speed” by Richard Linklater.

The show will be available for free at Hulu’s free web service. According to Hulu Chief Executive Jason Kilar, “at scale, our model allows us to profitably pay content owners approximately 50 percent more in content licensing fees per subscriber when compared to other similarly priced online subscription services.”

Hulu’s rival Netflix has secured the rights to the series “House of Cards”. It is a political thriller that stars Kevin Spacey.

It seems like the battle of online video service is heating up.
