Nokia has indeed kept its promise when it announced last month that “a software update in early December will include improvements to power efficiency” to address the issues in the battery’s life.

The issue surfaced after just over a week after its flagship Windows Phone handset was released in the market.

Today, a software update has started rolling out to the countries where the unit is available and will be downloaded through Microsoft Zune. In addition to fixing battery issues, the update also brings improvements to voicemail notifications, audio quality, display switching in bright light, as well as in email replying for Microsoft Exchange users.

Nokia said, “Starting today and rolling out over the next few weeks we will be releasing software updates to deliver exciting new features and performance enhancements including charging improvements to the award winning Lumia 800.”

Nokia also announced last month that another update will be released in the early part of 2012 which will “introduce further enhancements to battery life and battery charging”.
