Nokia enters the financial market with Nokia Money

Nokia Corp. has definitely evolved from just manufacturing handsets and has now dipped its corporate food on various areas.

Just this week, they’ve finally revealed their own Netbook, the Booklet 3G.

Now they’ve ventured into another market – the financial market to be exact – by unveiling their newest service, the Nokia Money.

This mobile financial service allows users to send money by typing in the receiver’s cell phone number. It also lets users to add credits to their prepaid SIM cards, buy products, pay for services and pay utility bills.

The service, according to Nokia, is being run by mobile payment company Obopay an dis bested on that company’s payment platform.

Nokia plans to expand this mobile financial service with other payment services too.

Nokia Money will first be released at Nokia World in Stuttgart, Germany next month. It is expected to be released in some markets starting early 2010.
